Tom Peel

Armed with a set of old tools ranging from an old Power Mac to a 1940’s Chinese Reel to Reel tape deck, Tom Peel (already a prolific songwriter with a sizable back catalogue) set about recording new material in his bedroom in Witton, Birmingham in May 2010. Tom altered and manipulated parts performed by other musicians (like the distorted cello hook on ‘When I Die’).

“I like the limitations of recording in my bedroom. It allows the listener to hear where I’ve come from, and how cheap my equipment is. At the end of one of the songs, you can actually hear an ice cream van going down my road. I like stuff like that”.
